Sustainable land management in Kyrgyzstan
Desertification in Central Asia is a great threat to nearly 20 million rural inhabitants. The Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management works to reverse this degradation of land, but there is little experience with managing such complex tasks. In Kyrgyzstan, there are further factors hindering the advance of this project, such as political instability and low capacities. In 2012, a training session was organized for relevant partners, which lead to a memorandum of understanding that was signed by all participants and the founding of a work group.
