Although political and economic security increased since the civil war, the agricultural sector in Cambodia is failing to guarantee an adequate standard of living for the rural population. In response to this, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in cooperation with the provincial department of trade initiated the regional economic development program “Green Belt” in 2007. The focus lies on incorporating stakeholder dialogues in order to reorganize the vegetable value chain in the province Siem Reap.
